I have currently plugged a 2.5" WD Scorpio Black Drive in the top sata port in my pogoplug series 4. I am afraid that exposure of the bard drive will damage it from dust etc. So I am thinking about getting a esata enclosure for a 2.5" drive. Although usb 3.0 enclosures are avilable, I want esata, since both my usb 3.0 ports are full from older 3.5" ide drives in enclosures, and the top usb 2.0 port has a flash drive for booting.
My question is, can I use the esata enclosure, and connect the esata male cable coming out from the drive into a sata male to esata female cable from walmart, http://www.walmart.com/ip/13212892?wmlspartner=wlpa&adid=22222222227000000000&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=&wl3=21486607510&wl4=&wl5=pla&veh=sem.
Then, I can plug the sata male end into the pogoplug. I will not need the power cable since the esata enclosure has an external power.
Another question is, since I am connecting the drive from an enclosure, can I connect a 3.5" sata drive, since the data cable is the same, and I am using external power?
Thanks.
