Pogo v2 has a serial port, can I use a character LCD on it?

I have some spare serial character 4x20 LCD's left over from the carmp3 days, before mp3 players existed when folks like me were putting windows pc's in their cars.

I'd like to use one on the pogo to show status, ipaddress, hostname, and whatever else I can without putting a load on the system doing it. I think it would be a nice addition, and hey it looks cool.

Is there a program compatible with archlinux that can do this? I know it probably won't be easy, and no it's probably not worth the effort either, but we all like to tinker sometimes just because. Google gives me http://lcdproc.org/ as working on linux in general, but I don't know if that program or anything it downloads will screw up my pogo.

That is generally ttyS0 & assigned as a serial console. But in theory, you might be able to. I might suggest a usb serial for that purpose.fo
