unable to rename folders with netatalk 3

Postby dingarch » Tue Apr 02, 2013 12:57 pm

I am curios if anyone has any ideas about this. I have been trying to get netatalk to work properly but whenever I create a folder (or any folder already created for that matter) in mountain lion I am not able to rename it. I can delete things and I can create folders named "untitled folder" but cannot rename them. I have been scouring the internet for a solution and have found non. It is an exfat formatted drive and I am using fstab to mount it. I am using rw users umask=000 0 0. In mountain lion the permissions are (unknown) read write, staff read only, everyone read only. Does anyone have any ideas?

Edit: I also can't rename files.

Just in case anybody needs to know what is going on I figured out a way around this. It seems that there is some kind of permission conflict between netatalk and drives formatted with exfat or maybe the fuse-exfat implementation. I am not sure but switching to ext3 or HFSplus (non journaled) solved my problem. Did not need to keep testing as HFSplus is suitable for my needs. Unfortunately if I ever need to use a windows machine I would have to figure it out but no windows OS in my place so NBD.
