Pogoplug E02 or GoFlex Net?

Postby PBear » Wed Apr 17, 2013 3:07 pm

I want to get a lower power server and looking at the Pogoplug E02 and GoFlex Net. Both have features I like and from what I understand they run the same chip with the E02 with more ram (256) and the GoFlex with more nand (256). I am basically going to be running some torrents and FTP, with some light crashplan. I like the possibility of modding the GoFlex for 3.5 Sata but I like the more ram on the E02. Will there be much speed difference on my network with USB drives on Pogoplug vs Sata on GoFlex? Is there one that is more robust? Please help me make the decision, thanks.

You would say if you are ok on average getting 25MB/s transfer rate get the E02. With more ram you can do more with it. If you don't want to run much on it (or in other words 128 is enough) but do need fast transfer rates, then get GoFlex Home/Net.

Torrents/ftp/samba don't really need that much ram, so if that's all you need, go for GoFlex. Never used crashplan.

Thanks for the reply, 25MB/s is more than enough but what would the speed difference be USB v Sata on the network? Support basically the same between the two?
