MiniDLNA or Mediatomb?

Postby woodr141 » Sat May 25, 2013 11:51 am

So, MiniDLNA is working but I have apparently run into the problem others have had in that it won't update the DB with new content. Have to force a full restart/rescan to have new stuff recognized.

1) Does anyone have a true solution for this?

2) If not, does anyone have a straightforward set of configs/instructions for setting up MediaTomb?

Thanks.

Did you check this options in /etc/minidlna.conf?
# set this to no to disable inotify monitoring to automatically discover new files
# note: the default is yes
inotify=yes

It is working for me whenever i add files. I have attached 2TB HDD.

Yes, I have inotify set on...but my biggest concern now is that I am unable to stream any kind of HD video to my smart TV from the PP -- lower resolutions do fine, but streaming HD results in a wait-state about every 5 seconds while either some kind of buffering is going on or IO streams are disrupted. I've put in every kind of SAMBA-related IO tweak I can find, but HD is basically unplayable from the PP at this point. I have a 1.5 TB USB2 drive with all the DLNA media shares on it.
