How to clear logs and journals in preparation for imaging?

What's the proper way (and commands) to clear all logs and systemctl journals in preparation for imaging/cloning?

I went ahead and did the following:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
cd /var/log
rm *
cd /var/log/journal
rm -rf *
reboot
')

I hope that's correct.
