Cannot boot into GoFlex ALARM

Postby viralbug » Sun Jun 09, 2013 8:10 am

I've been using Arch on my GoFlex for a little while now without any problems. I was trying to setup CUPS for my printer. I'm not sure what changes I've made, but I rebooted the GoFlex and no longer could connect to it. It does not receive an IP address, nothing shows up in my DHCP.

Here's what netconsole shows:

How should I go about restoring it? I don't want to reinstall the OS nor lose my data.

Do you have another device to chroot from? something is wrong as it can't mount anything for some reason. Are all the drives attached that you had attached before (particularly the ones that you have in fstab)?

I only had my SATA drive connected to the GoFlex before I was trying to connect my printer via USB, no other drive.
I can use a USB pendrive and possibly boot from it. I'll work on making one now.
EDIT: I have ALARM installed and booted from a USB drive. Unfortunately, I'm not aware of how to proceed further. I'll keep searching though.

Any pointers on what I should do? :( My limited linux knowledge doesn't get me anywhere.

Ok so after messing around with the bootloader and stuff, I finally found the problem.
I dunno why suddenly this issue came up coz this is how I was using the system until now.
To give you an idea, I have a 1tb hard drive connected to the SATA port. It is divided in 2 partitions, first being the OS and the remaining is being used as a NAS. The second partition is being mounted as /mnt/NAS. This is what my fstab looks like

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '#
# /etc/fstab: static file system information
#
# <file system> <dir> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>
/dev/sda2 /mnt/NAS ext4 defaults 0 1
')

On commenting the line, the system boots up without any problems. Mounting sda2 after I boot into ALARM works fine.
How can I get it working back again?
