HDD crashing after sometime

my hard disk is getting crashed after sometime in pogoplug v2
whereas it was running fine in my older goflex net
how to troubleshoot??

now its not even starting just hard disk spins all the time
at ssh
it hangs :(

Having had a similar experience in the past, I would start by connecting the disk to a PC and checking the disk with smartctl.
My disk started having a similar behavior and it ended up failing completely. :(

Hope it is not your case.

didnt know much about linux :oops:

That says you've never run a test on it.
Even if the disk is new, I would suggest:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '# smartctl -t long /dev/<device>')

It will take a couple of hours (113 minutes to be precise) :(
