Pogoplug E02 Hard Drive Heat

Postby PhatMuffinMan » Sat Aug 31, 2013 11:19 am

Hi all

I am new to the pogoplug scene and just setup my E02 as a nas, minidlna, and sabnzbd downloader device. I have a 1TB usb hard drive attached to the pogoplug.

My question is:

Is there a way to check the hard drive health, and set up a hibernate or suspend service on the drive? I noticed that the drive is rather hot to the touch and it is sitting on the floor to try to keep it cooler ( I have wood floors ).

Thanks for any help!

Hi,

You might read that post. I use sdparm, then on my crontab :
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '*/15 * * * * ID=DriveIdle /usr/bin/sdparm -C stop `mount | grep sdb1 | cut -c1-9`')
For the drive health, you can use smartmontools

Hmm... cannot seem to get this installed. Do I use pacman for this?

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'pacman -Sy sdparm
export EDITOR=nano
crontab -e')
Copy paste the line above
