Pogoplug E02 ssh problem: password expired

Postby jloving » Wed Sep 04, 2013 3:55 pm

Hi guys, I had my pogoplug in storage for a while (had too much to do to keep playing with it), and when I plugged it in today and attempted to SSH into it, I got a message that my password had expired and a prompt to set a new password. When I entered a new password, I got an error message because /etc/password was read only.

I just moved, so I don't have my ALARM usb stick handy right now - I should be able to find it eventually in which case this issue will be (hopefully) a moot point. However, I'm wondering if anyone knows a workaround for without a usb install - if I can't find my installed usb I would like to be able to reset and recover the pogoplug.

Also, I think I may have disabled the pogoplug services on the device, so a workaround that uses my.pogoplug.com probably won't help.

Thanks!

You really don't have much of a choice. You need to edit a file on the NAND of the device, you 'll have to boot into an OS on the device. See the re-installation instructions for creating such a USB.

Thanks Warhead. I'll just do that then, once I find that stick... otherwise I have a buddy with a plug and I'll make him make a new install for me ;)
