[SOLVED] Help.Bricked pogoplug e02 - Bad Serial Cable Output

Postby shmoode » Sat Sep 07, 2013 7:46 pm

I'm attempting to recover a bricked pogoplug e02. I'm using a serial cable following this page (https://sites.google.com/site/slimjb/). When I boot up the pogoplug the ethernet lights will blink and a green led on the board blinks but I get no output from Putty. If I disconnect the white wire from the USB to TTL Converter module I get this output:

Baud rate, or loose ground. You did NOT attach the Vcc pin, right?

WarheadsSE,

Thanks for replying.
I set the baud rate to 115200 as the site said. I also tried a number of other baud rates with the same results. Do you recommend a different baud rate?

I didn't attach the Vcc pin. As for the ground connection I know the wire connections are good, perhaps it's one of the pins themselves. I actually used 3 different sets of wires to make sure that wasn't the problem and all 3 gave me the same results.

Have you used this USB-TTL adapter before? If you haven't, maybe the adapter is the problem.

Moonman,

This is the first time I've used it. Perhaps I'll order a new one and see if that's the problem.

Re: Help...Bricked pogoplug e02 - Bad Serial Cable Output

Postby shmoode » Thu Sep 12, 2013 7:08 pm

Well it looks like my uboot was corrupted, I was able to determine which values and using this post http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?3,8919 I was able to restore the pogoplug.

Just to leave you guys with some information about what led me to a messed up uboot, I was following this guide http://blog.qnology.com/2013/03/tutoria ... linux.html and whenever I'd finish and reboot the pogoplug wouldn't boot back into ArchLinuxARM. After many failed attempts I started looking for answers and tried several different things and eventually bricked it. What I did eventually figure out after buying another pogoplug was that if I didn't enable anything to run at boot everything worked fine. So now I just have to SSH in and start SAMBA and miniDLNA if I reboot or lose power. Anyway that's my story. I may try to see what's going on now that I have the serial cable so that I can run them at boot, but that's for another day. :D

Thanks for all your help.
