[ramblings] some flash drive work better than others

Postby JJpogo » Fri Sep 27, 2013 3:22 pm

Having played with several E02 for a while, I've experienced some finickiness sometimes. I haven't tested it comprehensively, but it seems to be correlated with the flash drive I'm using. A couple that I have run really hot, one even burns my finger if I hold onto it tight right after unplugging.

The problem is that sometimes the pogpolug doesn't boot up right...or at least I can't connect via ssh and have to physically power cycle it. Or I can't use a USB wireless adapter with it because both draw lots of current.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this, or if I'm trying too hard to explain why it sometimes doesn't work.

I have wireless adapter that work, but they all get hot. Rather than getting a powered USB hub, I wonder if there's some cooler running USB wireless adapter and flash drives that you guys would recommend?

Yeah, some USB flash drives works better than others. Same goes for USB Hard Drives.

For USB Flash drive, I'm using the SanDisk Cruzer Fit which works well. It does get pretty hot, but it's not an issue.

I've tested various USB drives and they are hit or miss. Lots of low quality ones out there.

For Wifi, I'm using the Etekcity High Power 802.11 B/N/G 300M USB Wireless 1000mw Wifi Network Adapter with Dual Antenna (found on Amazon).
