Pogoplug E02, bad blocks mtd0, help

Postby williamtarrantjr » Mon May 18, 2015 4:24 am

Hey, not sure if I'm placing this in the correct place, or if the issue is already addressed somewhere else, but i wasn't able to find a solution the traditional way.

I beleive i messed up mtd0 on my pogoplug E02 (white/pink), while updating uboot.

The Pogo doesn't seem to boot up anymore using the stock os (i.e. i used to be able to remove my usb key and start it up using the stock os).

Here's the blocks that are damaged:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '[root@chango-pogo pogoroot]# dmesg | grep -i 'bad'
[ 11.515120] Scanning device for bad blocks

[ 11.626142] Bad eraseblock 923 at 0x000007360000
[root@chango-pogo pogoroot]#')

I'm able to log in to my arch Linux install (on thumb drive) no problem, so I'm hoping the is a way to repair the damage, without having to open it up, or use a serial adapter. I appreciate any assistance, anyone can provide, or even if someone could point me in the right direction. Thanks.

It is probably not because of bad blocks, but because we don't support booting into stock os. You can install rescue system if you want to be able to boot without any external drives attached.

Alright thanks for the info, I'll see if i can install the rescue image.

Originally, i setup my pogo about a year ago using a tiny SanDisk flash drive. For some uknown reason the disk locked itself into a read-only mode. However, with the old version of uboot that i had, i was always able to remove the disk, reboot, and it would start up with the stock os.

So now it's no longer doing that, and I'm just concerned about not being able to reload arch, if another flash disk goes bad. Thanks for your time.
