Specifying a network drive in Motion's target dir

Hello,
I'm using Motion on a Pogoplug. In the moiton.conf file, you specify a path to save images like this:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'target_dir /media/webcam')

If I have other Pogoplugs acting as NAS, they're accessible via $this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '/192.168.1.17/foldername,') for example. Can I specify a network drive the same way in Linux? Or do I need to mount it first?
