Pogoplug Series 4 - SATA not power up

Postby pdkrocul » Sat Dec 05, 2015 5:06 pm

Hello,

I have a Pogoplug Series 4. I connected a SATA drive by extension cable to the top SATA port. Drive will not power up. Extension cable tests OK (works in other computers).

Has anyone had problems with the SATA port? Are there very low power limitations?

Drive: WD Green 2TB (WD20EZRX)

Ideas on why? Where to start debugging?

Thanks,
Paul

It could very well be that the SATA port can't provide enough power. Have you tried the extension cable with the same drive in another computer?

If that worked, it's probably a power issue. You could try using a separate power cable like this: http://www.microsatacables.com/sata-15- ... -20-inches

The top port is designed to house laptop drives, and in low-power enclosures. If the Drive requires large amounts of 12v power, you aren't going to get it to be powered from that.
