Pogoplug woes

Not having much luck.
Right, have two drives plugged into the pogoplug. Currently neither mount.
They used to mount, but couldn't be written to. ntfs partition.

I installed ntfs- 3g, restarted. Neither one now mounts, though one did for a while and was writeable.

fdisk -l gives:

The device '/dev/sdc1' doesn't seem to have a valid NTFS.
Maybe the wrong device is used? Or the whole disk instead of a
partition (e.g. /dev/sda, not /dev/sda1)? Or the other way around?

Plug them into a Windows PC, stat. Chkdisk & defrag.
