[SOLVED] Pogoplug V3 Boot Issues

Postby jm2 » Sat Jun 23, 2012 4:51 pm

I have a non-Pro Pogoplug V3 and I haven't been able to get it to boot properly since first applying the update-oxnas.sh script to get around the upgrade problems. When I first applied it and rebooted, it booted up as expected and had a solid green LED but had no IP address at all. I then did a clean rootfs with the oxnas-latest version but that made things worse as it'd boot but then the LED would turn off indicating network problems. I then followed the instructions for using the 2012.05 version plus the lib/modules from the update tarball, and that got me back to square one where I have the solid green LED after boot but no IP address (hence no ssh.) What logs should I check or steps to take to remedy this issue?

I solved my own issue; hopefully this will help others. Apparently I was running into multiple issues simultaneously. The update-oxnas script had failed to write the NAND properly and as a result was failing over to the old kernel. At the same time I had a routing issue on my network which caused the old rootfs to boot to no-LED. The newer rootfs did boot to LED for some reason but wouldn't have worked due to bad modules. I gave it another shot today and using the old 2012.05 rootfs booted right up and I've reverted it to stock for now. In the future I'll use a fresh install of arch.

That works, there was also a post about fixing the issue by changing the upgrade script to write to the "slot B" kernel :)
