If you have a Sata drive, then your best bet is to make a small primary partition on the SATA drive. Extract the file system to that partition on the SATA drive and let it boot from there.
The B01 will try and boot from the SATA drive first, its probably hanging because it cant find the OS on the SATA.
The Oxnas systems can be a little picky about where it boots from. The configuration that was most reliable for me is, Boot from Small Sata partition. With it booting from SATA it usually boots fine with USB drives plugged in. I have not gotten a good boot from a USB with the SATA plugged in.
