[RESOLVED] Sata drive not recognized/found

Postby PKG » Sun Nov 18, 2012 1:01 pm

I havent updated my box in a while and just did.
I'm at the stage that everything works except for the sata disk not showing in /dev/ that was previously recognized. Only the usb stick and my usb drive is showing.
I have the Pro version.
I made one little mistake and that was not enabling the uImage.pci. To fix that i just DL'ed the update script and change to uImage.pci and reran.
Still no SATA disk showing. Checked with
cat /proc/partitions
fdisk -l
dmesg is showing
: limiting SATA link speed to 1.5 Gbps
[ 16.910000] ata1: SATA link up 1.5 Gbps (SStatus 113 SControl 310)
[ 16.960000] ox820sata: reseting SATA core
[ 27.360000] ata1.00: qc timeout (cmd 0xec)
[ 27.360000] ox820sata: reseting SATA core
[ 27.720000] ata1.00: failed to IDENTIFY (I/O error, err_mask=0x4)
[ 28.230000] ata1: SATA link up 1.5 Gbps (SStatus 113 SControl 310)
[ 28.230000] ox820sata: reseting SATA core
[ 28.250000] ox820sata: reseting SATA core
[ 28.610000] ata2: SATA link down (SStatus 0 SControl 300)

When i connect the drive via usb it mounts just fine.

So.. how can i fix this?

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('PKG', 'S')till no SATA disk showing.

After plugging in the SATA disk, do this as root:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'echo "0 0 0" > /sys/class/scsi_host/host0/scan')
Then you can mount its partitions, or you can use /etc/fstab so that they will be mounted right away.

Silly me, last year i read that somewhere... :P forgot all about it.
Thanks for the reply. It worked!

I remember that i had put that line in rc.local, but how can i just make it work on boot without the rc.local file?
