POGO-P24 no network after reimaged sda USB and led off

Postby elmorti » Mon Dec 10, 2012 5:29 pm

Hi folks,

I decided to do an upgrade of the system by mkfs my 1G USB Stick (sda boot stick for the POGO-P24), I followed the instructions, mkfs ext3, mounted and unpacked the oxnas-latest tarball, also entered the mac addr in /usr/local/mac_addr.

The device boots, light led flash intermittently, USB stick does the same, then led goes off, USB stick is on but no network. Ethernet port link and activity leds works weird, they keep flashing intermittently but at slow intervals, not the usual thing, at least link led should be green all time.

I tried troubleshooting, swapping USB stick to different USB ports, following other posts with similar issues, I also noticed that the device is executing set-oxnas-mac as I added a "touch /var/log/iwashere.elmorti" and I can check the file is created after I plug the stick back on my computer.

Thing is I have no idea how to troubleshoot this devices (never really played with ARM devices), so I am not sure why this thing is not waking up eth0 or why the leds are not working as it is supposed regarding the set-oxnas-mac.

I keep trying troubleshooting and gathering info from the boot process, but I would like to know if the problem might comes because of the mac_addr not being set properly (and that could be why the ethernet port's leds are working weird).

Thanks all.

You have an older kernel in NAND, grab the 2012-07 or prior rootfs, and run the kernel update, then re-try the new rootfs.

Hi WarheadsSE,

Thanks for the quick answer!

I am downloading 2012.05 one (already tried with 2012.07), meanwhile, is there any chance I could have erased the kernel from the NAND by doing pacman -R kernel-.....?

Prior to this "upgrade" I was trying to upgrade using pacman, faced the glibc issue and tried steps mentioned here:

Thanks in advance!

Nevermind, 2012.05 brought the box back to life :)

Thanks for the help!
