V3: Boot from USB raid?

Postby Velines » Sun Dec 16, 2012 6:20 pm

Hi everyone,

I'm about to get a Pogoplug P24 (which is a V3 classic, if I'm right). Is it possible to boot it with Linux from a SW RAID 1 consisting of 3 USB sticks (using all of the 3 ports on the back side)?

Thanks

Knowing how these can be finicky, I'd say it might be troublesome, in the least.

So it would be more safe to just use a non-RAID /boot partition for kernel and initramfs file (on all 3 disks for redundancy) and keep the system on the separate RAID partition?

Since the V3 oxnas doesn't work like that at the moment... no.

Ok, thanks a lot for all the information. Then I'll just get 3 larger USB sticks and mirror the system partition after updating via rsync ;)
