Recommended packages for a freshly installed Pogoplug?

Postby TheJayOJ » Wed Dec 19, 2012 8:10 pm

I just installed Arch and am playing around with it, but I don't really know where to begin. What are some recommended packages/softwares I can install on the plug. I intend to use it as file/media server, download box and possibly a print server.

On a side note, I remember having seen a similar list of popular packages, you know CUPS, AirPrint, MiniDLNA on the ArchLinuxARM.org website a few months back but can't seem to find it now. That'd have been a good starting point for me.

Also, how do I know what's available for the Pogoplug? It's not like there's an App Store or something for it.

It's linux, albeit in a smaller envelope.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('WarheadsSE', 'I')t's linux, albeit in a smaller envelope.

Okay… but still, it's ARM so wouldn't that limit what software runs on it? I mean most of it is written for x86, isn't it?

And of course, no GUI. I have only ever used Linux with a GUI before. I have no idea what gems the CLI part of the universe holds.

Most code is compatible, and yes, being primarily CLI or web-interface driven does change the dynamic a bit.
