The clear case will pop off without much effort.

Then a small pudge, or even a thin, blunt table knife at the seam.

Thanks! I opened the case like you guys suggested without trouble! Look like there is enough space to mount the 2.5 HDD, but ventilation is problem without drilling holes :-) I don't think internal HDD is going to last long with the heat inside.

@WraheadsSE
I gave up the idea of putting the 2.5 HDD inside the case. Looks like a major mod to the case is needed to mount it and to ensure enough ventilation :-) Do I recall correctly that in some posts that you've made a minor mod to install the eSATA port above the Ethernet port using a short SATA to eSATA cable? but I could not find the post where you've documented it. Could you tell us what you did briefly?
Thanks,

I had the whole thing written up on the old wiki. I still have the images. Try searching the google cache.. it might still be there. I'll see what we can do about replacing that.

@bodhi

The Pogoplug case with its stand is IMHO very thankful for mounting a 2,5" disk. The disk fits perfectly between main case and stand on the bottom, stand has almost 2,5" width, and will be clamped thru bodies weight onto the stand, connectors to the back.

Mount a eSata port from a cheap eSata bracket for normal PC's around the USB ports inside the case. This needs some little work on the case, a rectangle whole for eSata and two wholes for the screws. Buy an "adapter" cable which provides data over S-ATA and power over USB.

Advantage of this mounting is in case of a defective disk, it is exchanged very quickly w/o a need to open the case. Don't worry regarding the airflow, there are still enough wholes on the bottom to bring freah air into pogoplug.

@fnu,

Thanks for the interesting idea, the 2.5 HDD alone indeed fits perfectly between the bottom of the case and the stand! However, won't it be exposed to mishaps if we install it this way? Perhaps it's better with a small 2.5 HDD case? I have not seen a case that small before, though. I'm thinking along the line of using a small external HDD case such as the Nextstar 3 http://www.vantecusa.com/en/product/view_detail/177 and just strap it to the side of the case clear plastic cover :-)
