$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('WarheadsSE', 'T')hat's.. weird.

Is it possible that the root tar had some existing log files from an 11.X network? cause I just deleted the log files, and it didn't create any new ones.

I checked, they were left over log files... so no help at all.

I've tried a dozen times, still not working.
My process
1) delete partitions
2) run disk_create ( I don't get an error message)
3) fdisk "o" ( make new dos partition table) and c ( toggle dos compatable flag)
4) create partition 1, start at 2048 + 10 M
5)create partion 2 + 25 G
6) create partition 3 ( defaults)
7) run disk_create
8) mke2fs -J /dev/sdc2
9) extract tar to sdc2 ( and fix mac_addr)
10) cross fingers
11--- green flashing, then light goes out, then nada.

You'll want to be sure you write the kernel via dd to to sda1 directly.

As for the dhcp, .11.x is my home subnet, so maybe something is lingering, but it doesn't make sense to me how it is causing it to translate an offer from 10 to claiming to be from 11, especially seemingly only from SATA.

It's not, I think that when you tarred the rootfs, the log files were present. They just got incorporated into the tar. It also explains why some of the files were dated from June

The dhcpcd lease files are kept in /var/lib/dhcpcd/ ... you could try clearing those out.

I'm getting closer. Now the green led flashes for a 15 seconds or so, then turns off. No DHCP. I've manually done all 4 steps in the disk create script. It appears that somewhere along the way the Disk ID is changed, does that impact the dos compatibility?

No ip that you can attach you, or no ip that shows on your router's attached devices list.
If none at all, then serial cable time.

If it shows on the router, then
Can you access it through mypogo.com still?

If so check to be sure it is ssh enabled still.
It seems that some auto upgrades turn off ssh.

If serial cable time, please report your success or failure as I had a lucky serial session, fixed the things I had broken, but haven't been able to establish serial access again.
