$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('WarheadsSE', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Arktronic', 'H')ow does this fault manifest itself? I'm running 2.6.31.14 using telzey's merged patchset and haven't noticed any instability.

Press it, hard, with memory & CPU.. compile a kernel on it, with a decent sized swap file. It's got to be long running, heavy resource-hitting. Then it will just *huurrrrk* stop dead, without a fault.

That's not what I saw in my testing with various kernel compilations, but I don't have any trouble believing that the problem exists. Bummer! :(

There is code in the newer kernels specifically related to handling disk cache blocks that don't get released properly. That could easily cause a soft-lock like you're seeing.

I never fully stress-tested the patchset that I made based on the Silverstone 2.6.31.14 kernel, but if anyone would like it, I can make it available.

For myself, because of the recent availability of cheap sata-based kirkwood machines I'm switching to that platform instead.

Which Kirkwood machines are you referring to?

If you don't need the sata, then I'm sure that anyone here that's interested has read about the 256MB Pogoplug E02s that have been shipping inside P21 boxes.

For those that do want sata, then there's been a vendor on ebay recently selling refurbished Seagate GoFlex Home bases for $10, with another vendor selling empty hard-drive shells for the GoFlex Home for $10. The links are on the doozan forums.

For myself, the recent sale price on the D-link DNS-325 2-bay kirkwood-based NAS box with 256MB for $109 was the last straw. It's a sweet little box. I just need to compile a new u-boot for it and it'll be perfect for my needs. I like RAID1 arrays for important data that changes a lot.

I'll get the Silverstone 2.6.31.14 patches packaged up and tested a bit more in the next few days and then post a link here when they're ready.

Just wanted to check in on this - does it still look feasible?

Thanks as always for all the work!

I'm still working on it. A config I tried basically enabling everything.. instant board reset. I will have to slow bump more modules.

I have backported devtmpfs (initscripts) and a library to patch in accept4() (udev).

I am re-attempting the everything-and-your-mother compile. If I can't get it to work, I am starting with the device drivers.

Will the rebuild include the features needed to enable netbooting? (As in this post: http://archlinuxarm.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=2550)

Or is that a totally different entity? :-)

I still don't have the GMAC module built-in because of the size resultant from sucking in the firmware.
