Iptables and Shorewall

Postby wlightw » Sun Jun 05, 2011 10:37 pm

Any chance to get Iptables or Shorewall working on PogoPlug Pro?

It looks the 2.6.31 kernel doesn't have modules like ip_tables... built in. I can't find them in /lib/modules/

I want to build a small ad-hoc mode subnet using the built-in wireless card in Pro, and then let ra0 communicate with eth0.

Another question: does 2.6.31 kernel support wireless AP mode? module 80211 seems not work. \

thx

In theory it should work. Admittedly, I inadvertently compiled the kernel without iptables, but can compile that module without issue. As for the Pro supporting AP mode, I personally have not attempted it, but read the documents in the driver source, as the advanced configuration is covered in those files. This includes WPA2.

could you show me how to compile the ip_table kernel? which source do you use?

also, when I try to use iwconfig to make it AP, it shows

# iwconfig ra0 mode master
Error for wireless request "Set Mode" (8B06) :
SET failed on device ra0 ; Invalid argument.

Like I said, I can.

I use the sources available from ce, with a modification to arch/arm/mm/cache-v6.S

I said to read the readme files didn't I? ;)

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('wlightw', 't')hanks for the reply. could you compile those ip_tables modules?

WarheadsSE did you compile the modules? Or is it easy enough to do? Without hijacking the thread too much I need iptables as well to get moblock running.

I am happy to try it myself but don't know what you need to do, a simple summary would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Here is a module pack, with all of iptables for IPv4/6 plus a few other tidbits.

download, extract to / (it places them into /lib/modules/2.6.31.6_SMP_820/kernel, as appropriate), and run depmod -a

WarheadsSE: there are still 2 modules missing conntrack, state matching to be able to use Shorewall.
