Backup pogoplug pro software?

Postby tomster2300 » Sun Jul 17, 2011 8:24 pm

Apologies if this has already been answered before, but I'm extremely interested in installing linux on my pogoplug pro and wanted to know if you could revert to the pogoplug software (firmware?) if the linux installation didn't work out. Is this possible, if so, how would I do it?

Thanks!

It's quite possible, and there should be directions here

The original software was left intact, and only some uboot variables need changed back (they are backed up) to revert to stock. The link contains a reference to the script, and that script will perform all the necessary changes.

Thank you so much. So just so I understand, nothing actually changes on the pogoplug pro firmware - when you install Archlinux it just installs it on the drive itself? If I were to eject that drive and plug in another, would I be able to go back...or is the plug's firmware being affected and that script resets it back to default, factory settings?

Please re-read what I said before.

IT ONLY CHANGES A FEW UBOOT VARIABLES. THIS SCRIPT RESETS THEM.
