[RESOLVED]Webmin denied access

Postby Mazdaspeed6 » Wed Jul 27, 2011 4:03 pm

I just installed webmin and required apps and added my ip to the allow list in miniserv.conf but when i browse to the ip using IE i get HTTP 403 forbidden:•This website requires you to log in
but i never got a prompt to enter the username and password for root. tried it in forefox also to see if it was a setting there but did the same thing. Rebooted serveral times and changed ports with same result. I did have plugui installed but i removed that to make sure it wasnt conflicking.

http://www.webmin.com/

Maybe their documents will help?

I have looked there as well as there wiki site and dont see anything relating to it. The installation doc seemed straight forward so i dont know why its not giving me the login box.

Look and edit the bottom line of /etc/webmin/miniserv.conf
When you do get prompt for username and password, it may be the stock one for root

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('pepedog', 'L')ook and edit the bottom line of /etc/webmin/miniserv.conf
When you do get prompt for username and password, it may be the stock one for root

Thats the thing i never get a prompt to enter credentials, it goes straight to the HTTP error. I have edited the Allowed= and entered my ip address.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('pepedog', 'D')id you edit miniserv.conf and restart webmin?

here is my conf file, i edited to allow my ip and thats it. I also changed the allowed ip to 0.0.0.0 and i recieve a different error in IE, •There might be a typing error in the address. OR •If you clicked on a link, it may be out of date.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'port=10000
root=/opt/webmin
mimetypes=/opt/webmin/mime.types
addtype_cgi=internal/cgi
realm=Webmin Server
logfile=/var/log/webmin/miniserv.log

pidfile=/var/run/webmin.pid

env_WEBMIN_CONFIG=/etc/webmin
env_WEBMIN_VAR=/var/log/webmin
atboot=0
logout=/etc/webmin/logout-flag
