Upgrade USB drive

Postby Mazdaspeed6 » Thu Jul 28, 2011 2:32 am

It seems like my 1 GB usb drive keeps running out of space. I will try to install something and recieve write errors and then after that stuff stops working. im guessing this is due to no space to work with. The drive is 100% full and the log files are empty. How can i upgrade to a 2gb? I have tried cloning the drive using Paragon on my windows computer and it boots but still only has 1 GB of usable space, the rest is unallocated. If i re size it the re-size doesn't seem to "take" when i plug it in the pogo.

Format the new usb to the same filesystem as the original 1gb usb, i assume ext3
then copy all the files from the 1gb usb to the new stick
i reccommend doing this with a linux os, i used puppylinux livecd and this worked for me

but try to get a bigger usb, my 2gb is full now :/

Also, be sure to do the copy as root, if that is what you are going to do.

I will give that a try, would the low disk space cause Samba shares not to work? i can open the browse but when i click on a share it says it cant be found.
