Newbie help

Postby schievelbein » Wed Sep 21, 2011 10:40 pm

I am attempting to follow the PogoPlug V3 installation instructions and I am getting stuck right away.
I know how to log in, and I assume I should do that as root.
I can do the 'killall' command, but as soon as I tr the fdisk:

~ # killall hbwd
~ # /sbin/fdisk /dev/sda
fdisk: can't open '/dev/sda'
~ # df -h
Filesystem Size Used Available Use% Mounted on
ubi0:rootfs 101.8M 11.1M 90.7M 11% /
none 61.4M 12.0K 61.4M 0% /tmp

I have tried plugging the 4GB USB drive into all of the different front and back ports with the same results.
Do I have to use a harddrive? Should I format the usbdrive ot ext3 first?
Is there a "Installing Archlinux for Newbies?"
I understand enough Linux to be dangerous.....

try just `mount`

It's also possible that it really doesn't like your USB flash drive.

Thank you and it was the USB Thumbdrive.
After I got it all working, it was not really what I was hoping for.
I was looking for an easy to use interface, so that I could use the PogoPlug without the stupid plugins using SMB or similar.
I think I will just throw this away and go get a true NAS.
Thanks for the help.

Alright, if that's what you'd like.

You can toss it in my trash can and I'll find a way to use it :ugeek:

Oh, and may I suggest the Iomega Home Media Cloud Edition. Works pretty well.
