Fstab issue

Postby iganin » Thu Nov 24, 2011 3:46 pm

I am trying to move /var and /home to other partitions of my internal SATA hard driver.
Unfortunately Pogoplug Pro doesn't come up after reboot.
I assumed that the kernel cannot mount partitions via fstab.
I tried to use a unique UUID or a partition name ( /dev/sda2) . The result was the same.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
# /etc/fstab: static file system information
#
# <file system> <dir> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>
tmpfs /tmp tmpfs nodev,nosuid 0 0
UUID=008db5a9-bd71-46fb-ad62-f98d23c084b7 none swap defaults 0 0
#UUID=7a15ecf2-3b7c-404b-b87d-ed88be90cbcd /var ext3 defaults 0 1
#/dev/sda4 /home ext3 defaults 0 2

')

I have got a second question.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
uname -a
Linux NAS 2.6.31.6_SMP_820
')

but
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
file /boot/uImage
Linux-3.1.1-2-ARCH
')

Would be I right in thinking that there is a configuration issue? :(
Do you have any ideas of what is going on?
Thank you in advance.

1) I have never tried mounting in fstab via UUID, but hey, I'll have a look.
2) No, it really is 2.6.31. That uImage is NOT what is used for booting. Remember the script wrote it to NAND? Oxnas line is NOT on 3.1

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('WarheadsSE', 'I') have never tried mounting in fstab via UUID, but hey, I'll have a look.

I always use UUID= in fstab for filesystems and for swap; it works fine for me.

I am having a similar issue. I have 2 usb drives.

USB Drive 1: first partition mounts fine with UUID as swap and second partition mounts fine as ext3 lvm.

USB Drive 2: ext3 I can mount it manually but if I try to mount using UUID or label in fstab, it locks up and goes flashing green after a reboot.

I just did a fresh install on Saturday and did not install udev-oxnas because it is no longer on the installation instructions for the Pogoplug Pro. I figured this was because it was no longer needed. Is udev-oxnas still needed?
Pogo Plug Pro with ALARM SATA rootfs
success: wireless, samba, sabnzbd, sickbeard, transmission, lamp with Gallery3 and newznab+, rsync server, tor
still trying: avahi, minidlna
up next: asterisk, openvpn, proxy server of some sort
gave up: nfs and lvm

Yes, it is, but it's included in the rootfs tarball now. Doing a 'pacman -Qs udev' should show udev-oxnas as being installed.
