WarheadSE,

Thanks for the upgraded script. Works great.. no serial needed. :D
What will we need to do install your new kernel when it is available?

when it becomes available:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'dd if=/blarg of=/dev/sda1 bs=512')

That's what part of the disk_create script does.

Took another stab at this tonight... and very excited to see ALARM on my list of devices on the router!

I have an 80 gig 3.5inch SATA that I am powering from a computer power supply and directly plugged into the internal SATA port on the pogo plug. Using a cheap amazon SATA to USB converter on laptop running a live version of Archlinux (Ubunto wasn't working for me) to setup the drive.

What seems to have held me up was getting the partitioning sectors right on the first partition, but now I'm there. I didn't expect the LED to keep blinking, but owell!

Thanks for the detailed tutorial. Follow the steps to the tee, and it works!

Here is the post from WarheadsSE that documents mounting the ubifs (internal memory of Pogo) if anyone needs it:

Will the plug be faster with SATA instead of USB? (even if I dont OC?)

In the 2.6.31 kernel, the SATA is capable of > 60MB/s, where as the USB is clocked at load to be between 10-22MB/s for HDD access. Of course, the busier the USB, the slower it gets. There is a noticable performance difference, especially when it comes to using swap.

Hi,

I would ask some help booting from SATA.

I have Pogoplug Classic P24 with Alarm installed.
No problem with booting ALARM from USB HDD, but would like to boot from sata.

Followed instruction from first post here, but failed to boot sata.
Symptom: Pogo start blinking but after 5-10 blink stop it and became black. No ping no ethernet activity of course no ssh.

I built a serial connection and now it is clear where it is stopped - But not for me. :)
(By the way I will do a serial howto for newbes like me. :) )

Can you please WarheadsSE help me?

What is the problem?

robert1968,
I believe the P24 does not have PCI, are you using the PCI image(uImage.pci) by any chance? If yes, try the non-PCI kernel(uImage).

Hi Elazar,

Thank You!
You probably right!
@uImage symlinked to pci
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 18 2012-01-15 18:15 uImage -> uImages/uImage.pci ')

I will recreate disk and refer results.

Hi Elazar,

Bingo! THank you very much!!!
Booting succesfully!!

Solution for P24 -
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 2011-12-20 02:24 stage1
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 24 2012-01-16 21:38 stage1.wrapped -> stage1/stage1.wrapped700
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 2011-12-20 02:12 u-boot
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 21 2012-01-15 18:15 u-boot.wrapped -> u-boot/u-boot.wrapped
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 2011-12-20 02:26 uImages
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 20 2012-01-16 21:33 uImage -> uImages/uImage.nopci
')

For log :
user root
password root

Only question: why led is blinking? - OK Found: depmod -a :))) No question....

Regards,
Robert
