B01 Reboot Fail

Postby doknek » Fri Dec 23, 2011 2:12 pm

Sometimes when I reboot, PogoPlug keeps on blinking and does not boot requiring a power restart. I have my root on Ext USB HDD partition (hd-sda1 - 10GB). I also have data partition hd-sda2 of 1900GB on the same Ext USB HDD. I ran automount command that is in the sticky here.

Q1. Is it because the Ext. USB HDD takes more time to boot?
Q2. Is it better to install root on USB Flash Drive instead of Ext. USB HDD?

It's probably the spinup time of the USB HDD..

Can yo give me the output of /usr/local/cloudengines/bin/blparam, but I only need to know what the bootargs line reads.

Thx for your quick response. Here's the output of blparam:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
bootargs_stock=root=ubi0:rootfs ubi.mtd=2,512 rootfstype=ubifs console=ttyS0,115200 elevator=cfq mac_adr=0x00,0x30,0xe0,0x00,0x00,0x01 mem=128M poweroutage=yes
bootargs=root=/dev/sda1 ubi.mtd=2,512 rootfstype=ext3 console=ttyS0,115200 elevator=cfq mac_adr=0x00,0x30,0xe0,0x00,0x00,0x01 mem=128M poweroutage=yes rootwait
')

Hmm.. You're using rootwait, so that suspicion doesn't seem to be appropriate..

Would it be better to move the root to USB Flash Drive?
Would the OS run slower due to lower R/W speeds of flash drives?

Please suggest. I will keep swapfile on Ext. HDD.

Do you only have the single drive connected? Or are other drives plugged into it?

Reboot fails with just one drive connected. That is why I am confused.

Do an fsck on that drive's file systems, just to be sure.

I am reinstalling on a USB Flash drive now. So, the problem will be solved.

I have ordered a faster USB Flash drive (Patriot Xporter) to be moved to later. If I want to move my OS installation to another drive, I will copy all files. What other files I have to modify?

Essentially, from another machine (not using that disk as an active rootfs), you can simple cp -ar as root (or sudo su, not sudo) or the same via tar.
