Don't know how to mount usb hdd

Hey,
I have a new Pogoplug Clasic. Last night I did the switch to Arch Linux. After upgrading the packages like told in the install instructions I wasn't able to access ssh anymore. So I followed the beginning-instructions in this thread (viewtopic.php?f=29&t=2334&hilit=ssh+connection). Finally I downgraded to "initscripts-2011.07.3-1-arm.pkg.tar.xz".
Still I can't find my usb hdd. Shouldn't it be automounted in /media ? If I restart the Pogoplug and the usb hdd is connected, the LED is just blinking and I can't access by ssh. I have to boot without the usb hdd.
Usb Hdd is EXT3 formatted. Under /dev there is just a hdb and noch hdb1.
I am new in the game. What I'm doing wrong?

If you just did this last night, then I would say it would be simpler to just grab the updated rootfs tarball (last night US/EST) and work from that.

As for the second hard drive causing the problem, I would say again, we know. It's a bit annoying. Unplug the non-rootfs drive when rebooting while booting off of USB.

As I told, I am a total newbie here. Where can I get the updated rootfs tarball and what do I have to do ? Simply override the file on the usb-thumb-drive ?

All done... newest rootfs tarball is running. Do I have to "pacman -Sy udev-automount" and "pacman -Syu" or will this mess up everything again ?

I have made the alterations what will protect you from the f up that is in initscripts, feel safe

System is running. Mounted second hdd with fstab. Samba is now also installed and working. First big step is done.
