SSH and SMB crashed?

Postby hilikustue » Sun Apr 22, 2012 1:30 pm

Hi there,

My Pogoplug Pro kind of crashed on me today. The smb service died and I cannot SSH into it anymore (operation timed out). I can ping it and if I portscan it, it shows the SSH and SMB Ports so it is not the problem with the update.

At this point I would just pull the plug (oh the irony), insert the thumb drive to a Linux VM and check the file system there like described in the bottom of the installation tutorial. Or is there any better/smarter way?

thanks

That is always step #1, and reading log files.

The File System came out fine so I just plugged it into the Pogo again, started it again and noticed that the LED went off after flashing which usually means Network.

So I looked in this recent thread, downgraded the initscripts using the bootable iso in a VM, did the procedure and BANG, it is up and running again.
Phew.

Thx a lot

:) Good job finding the well-marked thread... You'd be surprised how few do.

Hehe, since the Ports were open and I suddenly lost connection to it while it was powered on I first figured it had be something different.
Only when I tried turning it on again and the something with the network didn't work apparantly I tried the initscript repair thingy
