PE4H ( PCIe passive adapter ver2.4 ) PCIe expansion

Postby Asow92 » Thu Jun 07, 2012 9:06 pm

Hello. I was curious if anyone else had heard of this hardware or uses it. Shown here: http://www.hwtools.net/Adapter/PE4H.html

Essentially, I'm trying add on additional ports to my PogoPlug Pro via the MiniPCIe expansion slot.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you! :D

the red text there says essentially "for engineering tests only", so good luck...

I noticed... However, that doesn't mean one shouldn't be adventurous. Thanks anyways.

Oh, it's worth a shot, sure. I just can't promise anything :geek:

Hmm I'm not looking for anything fancy. Just a simple desktop really. I'm confident in the hardware... I guess my only question is if X11 will play nice.

I can confirm it works great on my x220 laptop. Your main problem will probably be the available I/O from the slot since you are not using a laptop. I tested a gtx560 and a 8400gt, but in windows only. I will try to find time to tweak my xorg.conf in linux. I can confirm the card is detected in linux, but not much more.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('WarheadsSE', 't')he red text there says essentially "for engineering tests only", so good luck...
On the page, there is also a link to this page http://forum.notebookreview.com/e-gpu-external-graphics-discussion/418851-diy-egpu-experiences.html#post5324240 where you can clearly see it works.

For those interested, I also tested with a OCZ revodrive 3 and the speeds are not really fast, but it works in linux, which means you could possibly use any linux compatible sata / sas / raid card.

Well, just tested on my laptop and can confirm it works in linux (ubuntu 12.04). If I ever get my hands on a pogoplug pro, I will test this particular setup. See the bottom answer in http://askubuntu.com/questions/56427/external-gpu-system-in-linux/172251#172251 for the details.
