Systemd-tools is conflicted with udev

Postby geeeeeee » Mon Jun 11, 2012 12:34 pm

I use pink Pogo.

Recently, I have upgrade pacman package and got this message

There are some inter-confilcts between systemd-tools and udev,
so I have to remove udev-oxnas.

but, I have read that udev-oxnas is essential package to avoid be a brick pogo after reboot.

So, I try to re-install udev-oxnas, but I can't.
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
[root@alarm ~]# pacman -Sf udev-oxnas
resolving dependencies...
looking for inter-conflicts...
:: udev-oxnas and systemd-tools are in conflict (udev). Remove systemd-tools? [y/N] n
error: unresolvable package conflicts detected
error: failed to prepare transaction (conflicting dependencies)
:: udev-oxnas and systemd-tools are in conflict
')

and I try to remove systemd-tools, but I got this message.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
[root@alarm ~]# pacman -Sf udev-oxnas
resolving dependencies...
looking for inter-conflicts...
:: udev-oxnas and systemd-tools are in conflict (udev). Remove systemd-tools? [y/N] y
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: mkinitcpio: requires systemd-tools
')

so, I'm afraid of to reboot my pogo plug. I think it will be a bricked pogo after reboot.
Is there any solution to re-install udev-oxnas?
or Is it ok to reboot my pogo plug?

DO NOT reboot.

Download this updater, extract and run update-oxnas.sh

I will be putting a full article together. After doing this, you will also be able to remove the IgnorePkg = initscripts.

I have a few questions about that script, but I'll wait until you post your guide.

So now, we can remove the "IgnorePkg = initscripts" line from pacman.conf and upgrade to systemd ?

After running the kernel update, yes.

As I touched on in that subject.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('WarheadsSE', 'A')fter running the kernel update, yes.

As I touched on in that subject.

Just checking, because I must have FUBAR'd something and repeatedly done so as I couldn't get into my box via SSH.

I reloaded the default image, upgraded that, reboot, ran pacman -Syu, let everything run through, and rebooted with the same results.

I also noted that the LED is no longer solidly lit, it just turns off entirely, though I expact that to be a part of the initscripts upgrade or udev-oxnas removal.
(edit to indicate I did reboot after the update image, then again after upgrading pages before issues started)

Hmm. I would actually bet that has to do with the oxnas-led module. There may have been an alteration that I need to account for in the set-oxnas-mac script.

This is a side effect of the update process to ensure that the alarm repo exists (libaccept4 is in it).

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
alarm is up to date
alarm is up to date
')

Simply remove the spare offender from the bottom of the file /etc/pacman.conf
