Can not install on POGO-B01 - Classic

Postby campigenus » Thu Jul 26, 2012 3:19 am

I have two POGO-B01 - Classic units. One I set up months ago and it's been up and working pretty much flawlessly since - smb, minidlna and ssh server for my LAN.

I finally had the need to press the second one into service and the install fails with:

"Connecting to archlinuxarm.org (206.217
# Verifying MD5
# Extracting
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Extraction FAILED or WRONG rootfs
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I have tried several USB devices, sticks as well as external, powered, HDs. Same error every time.

If I "cd /tmp/usb" I can "tar xzvf" the downloaded file and it extracts without errors.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Why do you 'cd /tmp/usb'? That looks like the instructions for a V2 pogo rather than a V3 pogo like the B01. Are you trying the wrong install? You want this one:

Pogoplug Pro/Video/v3 Installation for the ARMv6>Pogo

Also, it would help when you have a problem to show the exact commands you executed that resulted in the problem. To simply say you tried to install does not provide much useful information.

Hmm, its possible that it's not matching the md5 for some reason. Check that.

I went to "/tmp/usb" after it failed to see if the downloaded file was possibly corrupt or something.

First time it failed with a bad MD5, but I figured that was because of the "flaky" USB stick, so I changed the install to an external HD, and then another.

I also thought of checking the MD5 and it matched. Also, manually extracting the files worked without error.

Wasn't an MD5 failure at all. It was checking for the existence of /lib/modules/xx ! Doh. Fixed.

Thanks.

After seeing your reply to the other post I tried again and there is now Archlinux goodness on my pogo.

Thanks, and also THANKS for all the hard work you've been putting into this project.
