To close this out, I am now up and running with Netatalk and Timemachine on a pogo. Resolving some (mysterious) issues in my afp.conf and fstab file resolved my final problems.

I am trying to get netatalk 3.0 to work on my pogoplug too. Do you think you can detail what you did to your afp.conf file and the stab? That would be really appreciated. I'm kind of new at all this so the more basic the instructions the better! Thanks!

vietjohner-
What have you done thus far? Did you just install netatalk? What version (pacman -Q | grep netatalk)?

Configuring afp.conf is incredibly simple. You put the name you'd like a volume to be in brackets and then put the other variables (path, valid users, etc) below that line. The afp.conf manual is very helpful.

mactron-
What do you mean exactly? The avahi daemon is required by netatalk. I'm running avahi 0.6.31-5. With netatalk 3.0.1-3 everything is working flawlessly. If I upgrade to 3.0.1-4, where the avahi calls for Bonjour has been rewritten, Time Machine breaks on my Lion installation (but continues to work on my Snow Leopard installation). If you're running into the same issue, I've sent the maintainer an email but he hasn't gotten back to me.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('mactron', 'S')o i will try netatalk 3.0.1-3 since Bonjour on ML is broken.

Please do and report back with your results. I've been flying in the dark since 3.0.1-4 came out. I've been reading all the documentation I can trying to determine if it's me and my configuration or an actual bug.

After I updated dbus, avahi and netatalk on my plug to the most recent versions, the afp service was no longer being advertised to my mountain lion mac. I was able to fix this by following step 5 of this website:

http://kremalicious.com/ubuntu-as-mac-f ... ne-volume/

I was always able to log in to my plug via the finder's 'go' 'connect to server' option and inputing the right local ip address, but it was not advertised as available in finder.

For whatever reason, by configuring the afpd.service in /etc/avahi/services/ folder and restarting avahi, it now works perfect in ML.

Could you post a link where to get 3.0.1-3? Since i couldn't find it anywhere.

@Stomps:
But that's not the way it should be, since netatalk stopped communicating with avahi. Bu it's a workaround until they fixed it.

Mactron- I threw it up in my PogoPlug's http folder, I'll PM you its address. If anyone else needs this package let me know.

Stomps- Thanks for the pointer. I'll look into that workaround.

Is python2-dbus installed?
New optional dependencies for avahi
python2-dbus: avahi-discover
This might be for systemd, but can't hurt to install anyway
