Did I brick my pogoplug v3?

Postby SPA941 » Mon Nov 05, 2012 4:07 am

reboot it, front LED started flashing for less than 20 second
then:
front LED: static green
RJ45 LED:flashing

no dhcp request (I have wireshark setup)
no IP
no ssh.

Any one can kindly tell what's going on? and how to fix it?

Thank!

Check the rootfs for the presence of /usr/lib/firmware/gmac_copro_firmware

Thanks for your reply:-)

I unplugged the drive and mounted to my fedora box. I found gmac_copro_firmware is not in /usr/lib/firmware, it is located in /lib/firmware instead.

Well it looks like something is horking bootup. Do you happen to have a 3.3v serial?

I don't have it.

I think probably the pogo is not stable. I switched usb port and it boots up as usual. Because it is a fresh install, and there should be no reason not to boot up unless there is a hardware related problem. As long as I don't reboot it, it will run smoothly. So I configured almost everything on my Fedora box, and attached the hard drive to the black pogo, and it boots up. then login, install samba, configure it, start it. I won't do any update from now on. no reboot either.

Thank you very much for your help:-)

There is honestly something wrong with the bootup. Something that is causing problems with that network. Otherwise, it seems to be starting up fine if it is making it to a solid green front indicator.

You are right, and I believe so. The problem that I have happens randomly. There is another issue that I had couple of weeks ago. I had a pink pogo plugged in a CISCO 2950 or 3550 Switch, same thing happened, static green light after about 10 seconds of blinking, but no dhcp request, no IP, no ssh, rj45 LED blinking. If I plugged it back to my tp-link switch, it works fine.
