Upgrade to the latest image

Postby schnee » Wed Dec 19, 2012 9:02 pm

I saw that there is a new root image posted recently. I just wonder what is the best and easiest way to upgrade from the root image 2012.07 without breaking the current setup. I do not want to re-install, reconfigure everything from scratch.

Can I safely run pacman for the update?

Thanks

As far as I know, you just $this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'pacman -Syu') and that's it.

In fact, chances are, you're already on the latest version. Arch is a rolling release distribution. You're not supposed to worry about upgrading.
Circling the drain. At 7200 RPM.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '
')$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'pacman -Syu')

Last time i ran that it was not booting afterwards anymore, so I had to re-install it completely . That's why I am asking if it is safe or not.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('schnee', 'L')ast time i ran that it was not booting afterwards anymore, so I had to re-install it completely.

When you try to update what packages need to be updated? If you're running an older image, glib is likely out of date and that requires a little finagling to update. We can't say if this update will work completely automatically without seeing what packages (and their versions) you're updating.

Never run an update and walk away, watch each package install or you'll miss modifications you may have to perform manually.
