systemd but not booted with systemd?

Postby cyrus06 » Thu Jan 24, 2013 2:45 pm

Hi,

EDIT: Ok found a statement that systemd is not available for PogoPlug v3 :) But how can I use my Plug again? Where do i find older versions and how can I get them running?

first of all, sorry for the shitty subject, but I don't know how to describe it better in a few words.
Here's the problem. I bought last year an PogoPlugv3 and installed archlinux on it. So far so good, but yesterday I changed the USB stick an installed the "latest" available oxnas tarball on it. But now I have problems with starting deamons and other stuff.

I have no rc.conf so I cant configure any deamons, but I have noch the full featureset of systemctl.

here are some outputs

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '[root@PogoArchVPN ~]# uname -a
Linux PogoArchVPN 2.6.31.6_SMP_820 #6 SMP Thu Jun 14 19:49:57 CDT 2012 armv6l GNU/Linux
')

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '[root@PogoArchVPN ~]# ps -p 1 -o comm=
init
')

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '[root@PogoArchVPN ~]# systemd-analyze
-bash: /usr/bin/systemd-analyze: /usr/bin/python2: bad interpreter: No such file or directory
')

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '[root@PogoArchVPN ~]# systemd
Trying to run as user instance, but the system has not been booted with systemd.')

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '[root@PogoArchVPN ~]# timedatectl set-timezone Europe/Berlin
Failed to get D-Bus connection: Failed to connect to socket /run/dbus/system_bus_socket: No such file or directory
')

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '[root@PogoArchVPN ~]# systemctl status dbus
Failed to get D-Bus connection: No connection to service manager.
')

as you can see the my system isn't work with the old start parameters nor with the new ones on systemd.

so maybe someone can give me some hints to get the system runable in one or the other direction... :)

On my Pogo Pro, I succeeded in moving everything out of /etc/rc.conf into the various configuration files anticipated by systemd (as I am guessing you might have done), with just one exception: I kept the definition of DAEMONS in /etc/rc.conf. The keys to making all this work were (1) switching over to using netcfg, and (2) adding configuration files to load the gmac and dm_mod modules:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '/etc/modules-load.d/device-mapper.conf:
# Device mapper (for LUKS and LVM partitions)
dm_mod

/etc/modules-load.d/gmac-copro.conf:
# Gigabit Media Access Controller (network coprocessor)
gmac')
I hope your problem may be solved by adding these two files and putting /etc/rc.conf back with the DAEMONS list in it.

as described earlier in the thread I have some trouble with the latest rootfs image. It looks like that it is not compatible with my pogoplug-p24!
is there any chance to use the plug with alarm again? maybe an older rootfs image or some like that? I tried a few older images but with no luck. The device boots up, but I can't get access to it, and it seems that the device get no IP address...

Did you do this step?
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'C')reate a file at /usr/local/mac_addr and place in it your Pro's MAC address (its on the bottom of the unit) in the format XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX

yes! And the strange thing is, only with the latest image it works.
with older images (2012.02, 2012.05) do not boot up / do not get an IP address

Because the kernel in nand has to match the modules in the rootfs.

@WarheadsSE: Ok, that sounds logic

So what can I do to use my PogoPlug-P24 with alarm again? The main problem is that the latest image is made for systemd but my system boots with init...
How can I solve that with my p24?

My latest oxnas rootfs is NOT made for systemd.
