Network problems with POGO-P24

Postby webmeister » Sun Feb 10, 2013 9:41 pm

I use a POGO-P24 as a server that runs 24/7. The device is up-to-date, kernel is 2.6.31.6_SMP_820. After some time (usually several days) it loses (most of) its network connectivity. From the outside I see the following symptoms:
  • Pinging the device still works.
  • Connecting to the SSH port works, but no data is received (the usual "SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_6.1" greeting is missing). Sending some random (non-SSH) data causes the device to close the connection (normal behavior of the SSH daemon).
For further debugging I connected to the serial port and discovered the following:
  • All services are still running. Restarting the services does not help.
  • The device is not able to resolve names via DNS (despite all settings being correct).
  • The logs show nothing interesting, except for the following DHCP problems ("failed to renew"). They seem to occur at roughly the same time when all other problems start.
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
Feb 9 20:21:06 server dhcpcd[788]: eth0: failed to renew, attempting to rebind
Feb 9 20:21:06 server dhcpcd[788]: eth0: acknowledged 192.168.0.10 from 192.168.0.1
Feb 9 20:21:06 server dhcpcd[788]: eth0: leased 192.168.0.10 for 7200 seconds
Feb 9 21:21:06 server dhcpcd[788]: eth0: renewing lease of 192.168.0.10

')
Apart from restarting the device, just restarting the network (/etc/rc.d/network restart) is sufficient to restore full network connectivity. Any idea what is wrong here?
