- Pinging the device still works.
- Connecting to the SSH port works, but no data is received (the usual "SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_6.1" greeting is missing). Sending some random (non-SSH) data causes the device to close the connection (normal behavior of the SSH daemon).
- All services are still running. Restarting the services does not help.
- The device is not able to resolve names via DNS (despite all settings being correct).
- The logs show nothing interesting, except for the following DHCP problems ("failed to renew"). They seem to occur at roughly the same time when all other problems start.
Feb 9 20:21:06 server dhcpcd[788]: eth0: failed to renew, attempting to rebind

Apart from restarting the device, just restarting the network (/etc/rc.d/network restart) is sufficient to restore full network connectivity. Any idea what is wrong here?
