Pogoplug Pro worse choice than V2?

Postby Tres » Fri May 24, 2013 8:46 am

Hey guys,

I want to use a Pogoplug to create a NAS with my external 4-bay USB3.0/eSATA hard drive enclosure (JBOD). Main use would be sharing/streaming media via AFP and Time Machine, but I wouldn't mind trying a few other features.

Now I understand the EO2 is a cheap and good choice, but these seem hard to come by over here in Germany, but I see Pros everywhere (found a P21 for under 20€). Now reading that the Oxnas devices are not as supported anymore as the V2, is getting a Pro a bad choice?

Thanks,
T

as their seems to be no upgrade path for oxnas devices after the warheadSE kernel i'll advice you to better buy a V2.
they are removing init scripts which is making our life miserable.:(
with every update their is something missing.
as now everything is moving to systemd.
me too thinking of getting a reberry pi
better get a v2 plug or dockstar for less headache

Worse still to come, everything in /bin and /sbin is migrating to /usr/bin

Can you put a announcement up with the frequent changes and its impact.

I have already seen Evil Dead don't want another one

That's kinda sad as WiFi would have been a nice extra feature. I found an EO2 for cheap-ish that I'll go for. Thanks again, and erm, sorry for your loss guys
