[Pogoplug V3] Proper Arch install method?

Postby shatterstar78 » Tue Aug 05, 2014 2:49 pm

Ok so I was just given a brand new Pogoplug V3(B01). I want to install Arch and run a simple SABA server. My little bit of experience with Linux has been with Ubuntu, so I know even less about Arch. With that in mind, I read about the V3 not being supported anymore. That's were my confusion starts, all the installation tutorials I've read seen to be out of date. For example the instructions on the main page, does it still apply? If not, is their an up to date installation instructions detailing all the steps from start to finish?

First, verify the model number on the bottom of your Pogoplug. What is it?

If you're just looking for setting up a simple NAS using SAMBA, consider install SAMBA via Optware using this tutorial - http://blog.qnology.com/2013/11/how-to- ... ba-on.html

I would make sure it is actually an oxnas from /proc/cpuinfo

So are the installation instructions on the main page the one I should follow? And if so, what about installing your own start up scripts to get stuff like SAMBA to work. Also the instructions say to run "pacman -Syu" but wouldn't that cause problems now that its no longer supported?

Essentially, I need to find time to re-evaluate the entire stack of the oxnas, but I have not had time for a while. After I stepped out of primary development for the device, others have stepped in and completed the work started by a few of us.

I need to do a full quality check, and rebuilds of stage1/uboot/kernel and see about a modern userland on it.

That would be awesome if you got time to do all that, but I defiantly understand not having the time to get to it. As for me what would you say is my best course of action right now?
