Hi!
I've had a lot of fun/frustration working with ArchLinuxARM on my Pogoplug V2. Prior to this, I'd never worked with Linux, but I'm excited to continue learning, now that I've gotten a taste of it.
I don't know where to start. I see there are lots of Linux distros out there. I've read that ArchLinuxARM is a fork of Ubuntu. It also seems that beginner books on Linux seem to focus on a particular distro.
What I want to do:
1. For now, focus on ArchLinux ARM
2. Learn how to (in no particular order):
. . . a. Understand the file structure
. . . b. Understand how drives (media?) are managed
. . . c. See which version of the kernel I'm running
. . . d. Learn file operations (moving, copying, SEARCHING(!))
. . . e. How is ArchLinuxARM different than ArchLinux and other Linux distros?
. . . f. There's plenty more; I don't even know what I don't know
Since I'm mostly focused on ArchLinuxARM, and since I'm running on a Pogoplug V2, I assume there's no suitable GUI (other than SSH). Is this correct?
If so, it would seem I need to focus on doing all the above through SSH, although I have discovered a few things I can do in Webmin.
I'm interested in books, blogs, videos, etc. Just looking for the most efficient way to get up to speed on (ArchLinuxARM) Linux.
My background is DOS and Windows, if that makes a difference.
Thank you for taking the time to read this!
