autofs

Postby swedish » Wed Dec 11, 2019 8:47 am

Hi,

I'm using Arch Linux Arm with a custom Xilinx kernel 4.x. However, autofs depends kernel 5.0 or higher. I tried to build an older autofs 4.1.4 from source but it fails (glibc dropped rpc support). Any suggestions?

Thanks!

- Autofs 4.1.4 was released in 2005. No wonder it doesn't compile.
- Current version of autofs works fine even with kernel 3.10 for me, so you must be doing something wrong.

No solution for your special problem but maybe an alternative: Systemd brings an automount feature with it: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/fstab#Automount_with_systemd

I found that the kernel was built without CONFIG_AUTOFS4_FS. Enabling resolved the issue.

The error message threw me off:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'automount: test mount forbidden or incorrect kernel protocol version, kernel protocol version 5.00 or above required. ')
