trouble with fdisk

Postby oryx » Mon Feb 24, 2020 8:05 pm

Hi everyone I am new to using fdisk but want to use it to partition a SD card for Arch to run on a RPI. I've been following the instructions on the Arch Linux website but right away ran into a issue partitioning the first sector. fdisk prints:
First sector (2048-62521343, default 2048):
following the instructions on the website I put "+100M"
but fdisk returned the issue "Value out of range"
any help would be appriciated.
P.S
I forgot to mention the SD card is 32gb.

Try following the instructions more carefully. It is asking for the first sector. You are giving an answer to the next question of what size / last sector without having answered the first sector question. Either hit Enter key for the default first sector of 2048 or enter whatever the instructions tell you if the value should be different.

Thanks and I apologize, I have just heard fdisk is a dangerous tool to use if your new to it and I am being extra cautious.
