ntpd (4.2.8) - Segmentation fault

Postby Evils » Sat Jan 14, 2017 5:25 pm

I have been wondering for a while now why all my Raspberry PI's are totally out of sync with the time on the ntp servers, upon checking it seems as the ntp daemon has a Segmentation fault and doesn't startup due to that.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '[root@pi ~]# ntpd
Segmentation fault (core dumped)')

I was able to reproduce the same behaviour on several PIs.

Any idea if that's on me or the package?

Most likely is the package!

Just curious why you're not using systemd-timesyncd.service

It seems as timesyncd doesn't do it for me. It'll synchronize once, but the PI looses the correct datetime some time after it ran.
